Subject: MM#003 Major Flare Watch" - Date: Tue, 9 Sep 2014 10:29:32 -0400 Dear RHESSI Collaborators, NOAA 12158 was the source of a long-duration M4.6 flare that began at 23:12 UT yesterday, and shall be the new target region. The entire region has a reversed polarity for the northern hemisphere and has been upgraded to a beta-gamma-delta configuration due to mixed polarities within the trailing penumbra. It is also showing signs of sustained bright H-alpha emission around its magnetic inversion line. At this time we are implementing a Major Flare Watch campaign due to the increased probability of an M5 flare or greater over the next 24-48 hours. The position of NOAA 12158 on 9-Sep-2014 at 13:18 UT is: N15E20, ( -315", 135" ) See http://www.SolarMonitor.org for images and http://solar.physics.montana.edu/max_millennium/ops/observing.shtml for a description of the current Max Millennium Observing Plan.
