Dear RHESSI Collaborators,
Solar activity has increased significantly during the past 24 hours. There was an M1.0 event at 08:49 UT today produced by an unnumbered limb region (S19E83). This southeast limb region was also the source of more than 10 C-class events, including a C8.7 and a C7.0 flares in the last two hours. Although it is too close to the limb to ascertain its magnetic configuration, we will switch the target region to the southeast limb today. The total unsigned current helicity of this limb region has increased rapidly (seen from the SHARP website) when it is rotating onto the visible disk. Another M-class activity is likely in the next 24 hours.
The approximate position of the target region on June 11 at 16:00 UT is:
S20E82 (Solar X = -920", Solar Y = -320")
See http://www.SolarMonitor.org for images and http://solar.physics.montana.edu/max_millennium/ops/observing.shtml for a description of the current Max Millennium Observing Plan.
