Dear Collaborators,
Solar activity has partially diminished since the last message. However, several significant flares were produced, the largest being an X1.5 from NOAA 13664 at 11:15 UT yesterday. NOAA 13664 has begun its transit of the southwest limb and is still showing signs of significant magnetic flux. The Major Flare Watch will continue with NOAA 13664 as the target region. Further M-class activity is likely with a chance for an additional isolated >M5 flare in the next 24 hours. The position of NOAA 13664 on 12-May-2024 at 11:30 UT is: S18W69, (844",-276") See http://www.SolarMonitor.org for images and http://solar.physics.montana.edu/max_millennium/ops/observing.shtml for a description of the current Max Millennium Observing Plan.
