Subject: Flare Genesis update - Dec 20

News as of December 20, 1999

The stratospheric wind pattern over Antarctica hasn't moved for five days, so if we launched today the balloon would just head for the pole and cross the continent and then go out to sea. A trial balloon will go up possibly on Wednesday, December 22,but we won't know how it is doing until Thursday, December 23, so that is the earliest possible launch date. A later launch than that is likely. Merry Christmas David Rust and Brigitte Schmieder
