Subject: Flare Genesis landed

The Flare Genesis flight ended at 0434 UT on January 27. As it neared McMurdo, the telescope began to drift south, so it was necessary to cut it down a little earlier than planned. Just before cut-down, we regained line of sight data, and the video images looked great. All systems were operating normally until shut down for landing.     The telescope came down less than 200 miles from where it was launched and it is standing upright in apparent perfect condition waiting to be recovered.     I would like to thank everyone who followed this observing campaign, making supporting observations and sending us solar status reports. Special thanks to Sara Martin, Dick Shine, Zoe Frank, Alan Kiplinger, Dick Canfield, Petr Heinzel, Joe Gurman, Hugh Hudson, Nariaki Nitta, Dave McKenzie, Steve Keil, Jack Harvey, Christoph Keller, Bill Marquette, Dawn Myers, Jake Wolfson, Bogdan Rompolt, and Jean-Marie Malherbe.
