Subject: MM#07 / JOP 104 Pointing for September 24, 2000

To MM#07 / JOP 104 participants,

Although the SUMER slit was at the most active position on the eastern limb, nothing dramatic happened. There was some 8 10^6 K plasma (Fe XIX) seen in the northern portion of the slit around 20:53 UT on 22 September 2000. A preliminary density evaluation using the Si VIII line pair ratio at 1440, 1445 A gives 2.2 10^8 / cm^3 for the northern half of the slit and 1 10^8 for the southern half.

The electron temperature from Mg IX (706, 750) was near 1 10^6 K along the slit.    The SUMER pointing until September 24, 21:00 UT will be as before:

x = -980", y = -350" (slit from -200" to -500") (SOHO co-ordinates) S 19 deg, E 90 deg (heliographic at limb)

With best regards,

Klaus
