Subject: Major Flare Watch

Dear Colleagues,

NOAA 9393 is showing signs of decay, especially within the SW area of the region, but we would like to continue watching it rotate over the NW limb.

There might be another good flare producing region beyond the east limb. The long duration M5 X-ray event (April 1, 10:55-13:24, max 12:17) was reported by Dr. Wahab Uddin at the State Observatory Nainital to be from a region beyond the east limb. He reported a system of post flare loops which began around 11:00 UT. The current digitized H-alpha video image of the Sun from NSO/Sac Peak also shows a nice system of loop-type prominences on the east limb.

The position of target region AR9393 on April 1st at 16:30 UT:

N17W52 (Solar_X = 725", Solar_Y = 344")
