Subject: MM#009 Default HESSI Target

Dear HESSI collaborators,

NOAA active region 9455 maintains strong magnetic mixing in its interior and has produces three C-class events today together with two M-class events over the weekend. A new system of sunspots has also emerged close to the previous location of NOAA 9452, which is just ~100" north of 9455. Big Bear H-alpha observations taken at 15:15 UT today also show relatively intense plage brightening across NOAA 9455 and the newly emerged spots. Further C-class events expected, with a possibility for M-class activity.

The position of NOAA 9455 on 14-may-2001 16:00 UT is:

S18 W20, ( solar_x = 308", solar_y = -253" )

Regards,

Peter Gallagher and Bill Marquette, BBSO/NJIT.
