Dear HESSI Collaborators,

Several active regions on the sun today are capable of producing C- and M-class events (NOAA numbers 9501 and 9502 in the south, and 9503, and 9506 in the NE) NOAA 9502 (S25E11) continues in slow decay phase. NOAA 9501 (S13W06) has increased sunspot count, sunspot area, and magnetic complexity. NOAA 9403 (N13E25) has continued to add sunspot area and sunspot count and displays some mixed polarities. NOAA 9506 (N17E53) has a magnetically complex beta-gamma plage/sunspot group with leader-trailer-leader-trailer configuration. We will chance switching to NOAA 9506 today. We will be monitoring the other regions, especially NOAA 9501 (S13W06), for any further increase in magnetic complexity.

The position of NOAA 9506 on June 17 at 16:00 UT:

N18E53 (Solar_X = -719, Solar_Y = -280)

Regards, Bill Marquette BBSO/NJIT.
