Subject: Major Flare Watch

Dear HESSI collaborators,

NOAA 9628 has had several significant flux emergences in its central portions and has produced three M-class flares over the past 24-hours. The region, which is classified as a beta-gamma-delta, is expected to continue to produce similar activity.

NOAA 9632 has also maintained a strong delta configuration, and is expected to produce M-, if not X-class events.

Due to the close proximity of NOAA 9632 and 9628, it should be possible to observe both regions simultaneously.

The position of NOAA 9628 on 25-Sep-2001 16:00 UT is:

S18 W10, (158",-401")

The position of NOAA 9632 on 25-Sep-2001 16:00 UT is:

S19 E10, (-157",-416")

Peter Gallagher and Bill Marquette, BBSO/NJIT.
