Dear HESSI collaborators,

The interior of NOAA 9802 has continued to develop in size and complexity. The central spot, which harbours a delta, is now large and asymmetric and shows a distinct gradient across it's inversion line. In addition, a highly kinked filament extends some 40 heliographic degrees from the region to the SE. C-class and possibly M-class events expected, with a small chance for an X.

The position of NOAA 9802 on 1-Feb-2002 11:00 UT is:

S16 E03, ( -49", -169" )

See www.bbso.njit.edu/arm/latest/9802.html for further details.

Regards,

Peter Gallagher, Emergent IT/NASA GSFC.
