Dear RHESSI collaborators,

NOAA 0540 is a large, asymmetric beta-gamma-delta region which has produced a number of C-class flares, in addition to two impulsive M-class flares over the past 24-hours. A bright cluster of coronal loops has formed in the trailing portions of the region, which overlay two small delta configurations. Further low- to intermediate-level activity expected, with a small chance for an X.

The position of NOAA 0540 on 19-Jan-2004 13:00 UT is:

S14W06, ( 99", -154" )

See http://beauty.nascom.nasa.gov/arm/latest/0540.html for images and http://solar.physics.montana.edu/max_millennium/ops/observing.shtml for a description of the current Max Millennium Observing Plan.

Regards,

Peter Gallagher, L-3 Communications/NASA GSFC.
