Dear RHESSI Collaborators,

The level of solar activity is now medium. NOAA region 11176 has a beta magnetic classification and displays a highly elongated second umbra. However, it is too close to the limb to be able to accurately determine the degree of polarity mixing and hence its configuration. This region produced an M1.4 flare at 02:03 UT on 23-Mar-2011. C-class activity is probable, with a small chance of another M-class flare.

The position of NOAA 11176 on 23-Mar-2011 at 10:30 UT is:

S14E63, ( -835", -181" )

See http://www.SolarMonitor.org for images and http://solar.physics.montana.edu/max_millennium/ops/observing.shtml for a description of the current Max Millennium Observing Plan.
