Subject: MM#003 Major Flare Watch" -
Date: Thu, 24 Oct 2013 23:27:45 +0100

Dear RHESSI Collaborators,

The level of solar activity is high. The previous MM#003 Major Flare Watch (MFW) was called in response to an M9.3 flare that occurred on 24-Oct-2013 at 00:21 UT. At the MFW issue time the originating region was miss-assigned as NOAA 11875, due to that region showing the decay of an M3.1 flare in near-realtime imaging. The M9.3 flare originated from NOAA 11877, to which the MFW target changes now. NOAA 11877 is classified as a beta-gamma-delta/E-type sunspot group, but may be in the process of losing its delta spot. The MFW will remain in effect for the following 24 hours, due to 11877 having produced a >M5 flare.

The position of NOAA 11877 on 24-Oct-2013 at 22:00 UT is:

S12W03, ( 52", -284" )
