Subject: MM#003 Major Flare Watch" -
Date: Wed, 8 Jan 2014 12:05:41 +0000

Dear RHESSI Collaborators,

The level of solar activity is high. NOAA 11944 has grown in spot area over the past 24 hours, while maintaining number of spots and a beta-gamma-delta/F-type sunspot group classification. Since the MM#003 Major Flare Watch was initiated yesterday, NOAA 11944 was the source of an X1.2 flare on 7-Jan-2014 at 18:04 UT. The Major Flare Watch will continue for at least another 24 hours, as 11944 retains the potential for additional flaring above the M5 level.

The position of NOAA 11944 on 8-Jan-2014 at 12:30 UT is:

S09W10, ( 167", -89" )

See http://www.SolarMonitor.org for images and http://solar.physics.montana.edu/max_millennium/ops/observing.shtml for a description of the current Max Millennium Observing Plan.
