Dear Collaborators,
Solar activity is at a very low level. NOAA 12776 has decayed slightly since the last message, once again losing spot area. This region has now been confirmed as an alpha/H-type sunspot group and has been flare-quiet since yesterday's B3.6 event. Several A-class events and the largest flare of the period (a B3.5 flare on 20-Oct-2020 at 22:58 UT) were produced by a weak flux region in the North West quadrant that currently displays a few small pores. Additional low B-class flares are possible over the following 24-hour period as this region rotates up to the North West limb.
The approximate position of this region on 21-Oct-2020 at 18:00 UT is:
N29W80 , ( 831", 452" )
See http://www.SolarMonitor.org for images and http://solar.physics.montana.edu/max_millennium/ops/observing.shtml for a description of the current Max Millennium Observing Plan.
