Subject: MM#003 Major Flare Watch" - Date: Tue, 9 Aug 2011 09:39:48 -0700 MM#003 Major Flare Watch Dear RHESSI Collaborators, Target region NOAA 1263 produced an X6.9 event - the largest flare of Cycle 24 at 08/09/08:05 UT. 1263 rapidly developed negative polarity flux yesterday just south of the positive polarity spots of the weak delta located in the intermediate portion of the region. This formed a very tight strong delta configuration. Another =>M5 event is still possible before 1263 limb passage. The position of NOAA 1263 on August 09 at 15:30 UT is: N18W77 (Solar X = 877", Solar Y = 268") See http://www.SolarMonitor.org for images and http://solar.physics.montana.edu/max_millennium/ops/observing.shtml for a description of the current Max Millennium Observing Plan.
