Dear RHESSI Collaborators,

Activity levels are increasing slightly with the rotation of NOAA 11272 onto the disk in addition to 11271. These two regions, both in the eastern hemisphere, have been producing C-class activity over the past 24 hours. Although 11272 does not share the magnetic complexity or the number of sunspots as 11271, it is still a large, flare producing region that is bright in H-alpha. However, NOAA 11271 remains the most likely source of a large flare. With its multipolar magnetic field configuration and large, filamentary penumbral spots, this region will continue to be todays target. Continued C class flares probable with a possibility of some M class activity.

The position of NOAA 11271 on 17-Aug-2011 15:30 UT is:

N15E54 ( -742", 180" )
