MM#009 Default HESSI Target

Dear RHESSI Collaborators,

Target region NOAA 1520 was the source of a major M7.7 event at 07/19/05:58 UT. 1520 was too close to the limb to ascertain its magnetic configuration immediately prior to the event but at the last evaluation it was maintaining a beta-gamma configuration during decay phase. Due to the location of the region at the west limb, the x-ray event was partially occulted. There is a beautiful system of post flare loop-type prominences currently visible on the southwest limb. It is unlikely that 1520 will produce another significant event in the next 24 hour period but it is currently the most interesting target today.

The position of NOAA 1520 on July 19 at 15:00 UT is: S17W91 (Solar X = 902", Solar Y = -273")

See http://www.SolarMonitor.org for images and http://solar.physics.montana.edu/max_millennium/ops/observing.shtml for a description of the current Max Millennium Observing Plan.
