Subject: MM#003 Major Flare Watch" - Date: Wed, 6 May 2015 21:06:24 +0100 Dear RHESSI Collaborators, Solar activity has increased significantly. The new region on the northeast limb was the source of an X2.7 flare at 22:05 UT yesterday and has been designated as NOAA 12339. The region appears to have a beta-gamma-delta/E-type configuration and is showing signs of negative polarity flux emergence within the positive core of the region. At this time we are implementing a Major Flare Watch campaign due to the increased probability of additional flaring greater than the M5 level. The position of NOAA 12339 on 6-May-2015 at 19:35 UT is: N12E58, ( -790", 228" ) See http://www.SolarMonitor.org for images and http://solar.physics.montana.edu/max_millennium/ops/observing.shtml for a description of the current Max Millennium Observing Plan.
