Dear RHESSI Collaborators,
Solar activity increased slightly in the past 24 hours. The target region, now designated as NOAA 12494, was the source of numerous C-class flares with the largest being a C5.1 at 18:15 UT on February 4. 12494 has been classified as a complex D-type/beta-gamma-delta magnetic configuration. It is showing flux cancellation in its intermediate portion, and interacting with the adjacent region NOAA 12491 (N02E07) between high-lying loops. More low-to-mid C-class activities are possible in the next 24 hours.
The position of NOAA 12494 on February 5 at 15:30 UT is:
S12W00 (Solar X = 0", Solar Y = -97")
See http://www.SolarMonitor.org for images and http://solar.physics.montana.edu/max_millennium/ops/observing.shtml for a description of the current Max Millennium Observing Plan.
