Dear Collaborators,
The level of solar activity remains very low. The target region near the South East limb has rotated onto the visible disk and displays small spots in both its leading- and trailing-polarity fluxes. This region is too close to the limb for an accurate classification, but it should be confirmed as a beta/D-type sunspot group if the leading and trailing polarity spots keep the penumbrae that images currently show. This region produced the only flare since the last message - a B3.2 on 23-Dec-2020 at 05:53 UT. More B-class flares are expected in the following 24-hour period.
The approximate position of this region on 23-Dec-2020 at 15:00 UT is:
S18E73 , ( -888", -292" )
See http://www.SolarMonitor.org for images and http://solar.physics.montana.edu/max_millennium/ops/observing.shtml for a description of the current Max Millennium Observing Plan.
