Dear Collaborators,
Solar activity is at a very low level. The target NOAA 12843 remained stable and flare-quiet since the last message as it rotated up to the South West limb. NOAA 12842 was initially stable but appears to have increased in complexity to a beta/C-type sunspot group while forming an East-West magnetic polarity inversion line and producing 3 B-class flares, including the largest since the last message (a B7.8 flare on 17-Jul-2021 at 03:01 UT). A new region emerged just East of central meridian and rapidly developed spots in both polarities, currently displaying at least a beta/B-type sunspot group classification. This region is expected to be numbered as 12845 at the start of the next UT day and has already produced 2 B-class flares (a B4.4 and a B4.7 on 17-Jul-2021 at 16:12 and 17:05 UT, respectively). This new region becomes the target, with additional B-class activity expected and a good chance for a C-class flare in the next 24 hours if the region continues to emerge new flux.
The approximate position of this region on 17-Jul-2021 at 18:00 UT is:
S16W00 , ( 0", -333" )
