Dear Collaborators,
The level of solar activity is low. Target region NOAA 12940 decayed slightly since the last message and has simplified in magnetic classification to a beta/C-type sunspot group. This region did not produce any flaring activity since the last message, so the MMCO target switches back to NOAA 12936 as it rotates up to the North West limb. NOAA 12936 has remained as a beta/E-type sunspot classification but has increased in its frequency of flaring to produce eight C-class flares over the past 24 hours, including the largest of the period (a C5.8 on 4-Feb-2022 at 15:39 UT). Additional C-class activity is likely in the next 24 hours, with a chance for a low M-class flare.
