Dear Collaborators, Dear Collaborators, The target regions NOAA 2993 (D-type/beta-gamma) and 2994 (E-type/beta) are now decaying. The regions were the source of only a few minor C-class events since the last message. The opposite polarity spots located north of the large leading sunspot in region 2993 are still present but are weakening. It is still the most likely site for flares (N21W13, X= 201", Y = 417"). 2994 has lost all of its mixed polarities. There is only a very slight chance of an event =>M5. At this time, we will terminate the MFW. C-class events expected with the chance of an isolated M-class event in the next 24 hour period. The position of NOAA 2993/2994 on April 23 at 14:00 UT is: N19W09 (Solar X = 142", Solar Y = 387") See http://www.SolarMonitor.org for images and http://solar.physics.montana.edu/max_millennium/ops/observing.shtml for a description of the current Max Millennium Observing Plan. Regards, Bill Marquette (Helio Research) |
