Dear Collaborators, The level of solar activity is low. The target region NOAA 13068 initially decayed but then underwent some spot growth to become classified as a beta/E-type sunspot group. This region continued producing B-class activity since the last message. However, the largest event of the period was a C9.3 flare on 31-Jul-2022 at 22:41 UT that was produced by a new region beyond the North East limb. This limb location becomes the new target. Further C-class activity is probable over the following 24-hour period, with a chance for a low M-class flare because the C9.3 event was likely a larger magnitude event diminished by footpoint occultation. The approximate position of this region on 1-Aug-2022 at 12:30 UT is: N15E90 , ( -913", 243" ) See http://www.SolarMonitor.org for images and http://solar.physics.montana.edu/max_millennium/ops/observing.shtml for a description of the current Max Millennium Observing Plan. Regards, Shaun Bloomfield (Northumbria University) |
