Dear Collaborators, The target region NOAA 13078 was the source of two low M-class flares (an M2.0 at 08/17/13:26 UT and an M1.0 at 08/17/14:28 UT) and three C-class flares since the last message. A few low C-class flares were also emergent from another two regions NOAA 13081 (N11W10, bata/C-type) and 13082 (N23E35, beta/D-type). 13078 retains its beta-gamma-delta/D-type configuration while decreasing the sunspot area. It still emerges opposite magnetic fluxes in its core. Additional low M-class flares are expected with a chance of an isolated major flare in the next few days. The position of NOAA 13078 on August 18 at 03:30 UT is: S20W36 (524", -407") See http://www.SolarMonitor.org for images and http://solar.physics.montana.edu/max_millennium/ops/observing.shtml for a description of the current Max Millennium Observing Plan. Regards, Ying Li (Purple Mountain Observatory) |
