Dear Collaborators, Solar activity is at a high level. Target NOAA 13098 maintained number of spots and spot area since the last message, remaining classified as a beta-gamma/E-type sunspot group. This region continued producing several C-class flares and was the source of two high M-class events, an M7.9 and M6.2 on 16-Sep-2022 at 09:44 UT and 15:49 UT, respectively. At this point we initiate a MMOP#003 Major Flare Watch on NOAA 13098. Low M-class flares are probable in the following 24 hour period, with a chance of further flaring above the M5 level. The position of NOAA 13098 on 16-Sep-2022 at 18:00 UT is: N19W86 , ( 900", 300" ) See http://www.SolarMonitor.org for images and http://solar.physics.montana.edu/max_millennium/ops/observing.shtml for a description of the current Max Millennium Observing Plan. Regards, Shaun Bloomfield (Northumbria University) |
