Dear Collaborators, Solar activity continues at moderate levels for the past 24 hours. The largest event during the period was an M1.4 flare at /01/13/02:53 UT produced by the target region NOAA 13186. 13186 also produced four C-class flares and was designated as a beta-gamma/E-type configuration with increasing sunspot area and number of spots. NOAA 13182 (S18W25, beta-gamma/E-type) also produced two M1 flares and four C-class flares. NOAA 13181 (S19W79, beta-gamma/E-type) produced an M1.2 flare. We will continue the Major Flare Watch campaign for a further 24 hours. Low M-class flares are still expected with some chance of an >M5 flare in the next 24 hours. The position of NOAA 13186 on January 13 at 08:30 UT N24E33 (-486", 453") See http://www.SolarMonitor.org for images and http://solar.physics.montana.edu/max_millennium/ops/observing.shtml for a description of the current Max Millennium Observing Plan.
