Dear Collaborators,
Solar activity reached a high level in the past 24 hours. The largest event since the last message was an X1.1 flare at 15:40 UT today from NOAA 13217. 13217 was the most productive and also produced 5 low M-class flares. This region emerged new sunspots and has been classified as a beta-gamma-delta/E-type configuration. Today the Major Flare Watch region shall switch to NOAA 13217. In addition, NOAA 13220 (S14E46, alpha/H-type) and NOAA 13222 (N29W84, beta/D-type) also produced several low M-class flares. Further low M-class flares are expected with a good chance for additional >=M5 flare in the next 24-48 hours. The position of NOAA 13217 on 12-Feb-2023 08:30 UT S09E31 (-496", -55") See http://www.SolarMonitor.org for images and http://solar.physics.montana.edu/max_millennium/ops/observing.shtml for a description of the current Max Millennium Observing Plan.
