Dear Collaborators,
Solar activity has been at a low level since the last message, with low C-class flares from NOAA 13234. However, the region has increased in size and complexity, and is now classified as a beta-gamma-delta region due to mixed polarities within the trailing sunspot. This portion of the active region also appears to be coalescing and rotating which may introduce significant sheering along the polarity inversion line. As such we are implementing a Major Flare Watch campaign at this time due to the increased possibility of a M5 flare or greater over the next 24-48 hours. The position of NOAA 13234 on 28-Feb-2023 at 12:30 UT is: N25W29, ( 426", 503" ) See http://www.SolarMonitor.org for images and http://solar.physics.montana.edu/max_millennium/ops/observing.shtml for a description of the current Max Millennium Observing Plan.
