Dear Collaborators,
Solar activity has returned to low levels for the past 24 hours. The largest event since the last message was a C3.4 flare at 00:46 UT today from NOAA 13306. 13306 just emerged today and has been classified as a beta/C-type sunspot group. This region is the most productive and has produced 6 flares. Yesterday’s target NOAA 13296 has already rotated beyond the west limb, so today the target shall switch to NOAA 13306. In addition, an unnumbered region (S35E88) and NOAA 13305 (N10E07, beta/D-type) also produced a few low-C flares. Further C-class activities are expected from various regions in the next 24-hour period. The position of NOAA 13306 on 15-May-2023 at 11:30 UT S18W43 (617", -262") See http://www.SolarMonitor.org for images and http://solar.physics.montana.edu/max_millennium/ops/observing.shtml for a description of the current Max Millennium Observing Plan.
