Dear Collaborators,
Solar activity has been at low levels for the past 24 hours. The largest event was a C4.0 flare at 23:17 UT on 29-Aug-2023 from NOAA 13417. 13417 also produced a C1.7 plus a B9.9 flares. This region was classified as a beta/C-type with mixed polarities in the leading portion. Today the target region shall switch to NOAA 13417. Yesterday’s target (still unnumbered, N21E81) was the source of 2 C1 flares and 2 B-class flares but it has a low and decreasing current helicity. In addition, NOAA 13413 (N09W43, beta/D-type) and NOAA 13415 (S10W26, beta-gamma/D-type) also produced a C1.3 plus a B8.4 flares. Additional C-class activities are likely from various active regions with a slight chance of a low M-class flare in the following 24 hours. The position of NOAA 13417 on 30-Aug-2023 at 11:30 UT S07E54 (-764", -184") See http://www.SolarMonitor.org for images and http://solar.physics.montana.edu/max_millennium/ops/observing.shtml for a description of the current Max Millennium Observing Plan.
