Dear Collaborators, Solar activity is at a high level. The largest event since the last message is an M8.2 flare at 14:11 UT yesterday from the target region NOAA 13435, which has retained its beta-delta/D-type magnetic configuration and shall remain the target region. Moreover, the nearby region NOAA 13438 (N10E16, beta/C-type) also produced six low-to-moderate C-class flares in the period. As such we are implementing a Major Flare Watch campaign at this time. More C-class flares are expected over the following 24-hour period, with a good chance of additional M-class activity. The position of NOAA 13435 on 21-Sep-2023 at 07:30 UT is: N09E25 (-400" , 42") See http://www.SolarMonitor.org for images and http://solar.physics.montana.edu/max_millennium/ops/observing.shtml for a description of the current Max Millennium Observing Plan. Regards, De-Chao Song (Purple Mountain Observatory) |
