Dear Collaborators, Solar activity continues at a high level for the past 24 hours. The largest event since the last message was an M8.7 flare at 12:42 UT yesterday produced by the target region NOAA 13435 (N08E12). 13435 also produced another M1.2 flare at 02:25 UT today and has retained its beta-delta/D-type magnetic configuration. We shall continue with the Major Flare Watch in effect with NOAA 13435 as the target region. Additional low M-class flares are expected with a chance of another >M5 flare in the next few days. The position of NOAA 13435 on 22-Sep-2023 at 07:30 UT is: N08E12 (-197" , 18") See http://www.SolarMonitor.org for images and http://solar.physics.montana.edu/max_millennium/ops/observing.shtml for a description of the current Max Millennium Observing Plan. Regards, De-Chao Song (Purple Mountain Observatory) |
