Dear Collaborators, The level of solar activity has increased in the past 24 hours. The largest event since the last message was a C6.6 flare at 11:30 UT today from NOAA 13474. 13474 was also the source of 4 low-C plus 2 B-class flares and became the most productive. It was classified as a beta/B-type sunspot group, with the emergence of new sunspots and new magnetic fluxes. Yesterday’s target NOAA 13473 did not produce any flares in the period, so the target region shall switch to NOAA 13474. Please note that NOAA 13471 (S23W64, beta /B-type) also produced a C1 flare. Further C-class flares are expected with a chance of a low-M flare in the following 24 hours. The position of NOAA 13474 on 29-Oct-2023 at 12:30 UT is: S17E18 (-286", -354") See http://www.SolarMonitor.org for images and http://solar.physics.montana.edu/max_millennium/ops/observing.shtml for a description of the current Max Millennium Observing Plan. Regards, Qiao Li (Purple Mountain Observatory) |
