Dear Collaborators, Since the last message, a number of C1 flares were produced near the southeast limb by the region moving onto the disk, which is now identified as NOAA 13489. However, a partially occulted M1.2 flare was produced from a currently unnumbered active region behind the northeast limb at 05:37 UT today. The X-ray background irradiance level has begun to increase significantly. The target region will switch to the new active region near the northeast limb for the next 24 hours. Further C-class activity is likely, with a chance for an additional M-class flare. The approximate position of the new target region on 18-Nov-2023 at 12:30 UT is: N23E85, (-890", 376") See http://www.SolarMonitor.org for images and http://solar.physics.montana.edu/max_millennium/ops/observing.shtml for a description of the current Max Millennium Observing Plan.
