Dear Collaborators, Solar activity has slightly diminished since the last message. The target region NOAA 13536 continued to be the most flare-productive region on the visible disk, being the source of several low C-class flares as well as the largest magnitude event in the period - an M1.2 at 18:02 UT yesterday. 13536 is now classified as a beta-gamma region and is showing signs of additional flux emergence along its northern edge. The Major Flare Watch will be extended for a further 24 hours, with a slight chance for an isolated >M5 flare. The position of NOAA 13536 on 3-Jan-2024 at 08:30 UT is: N05E44, (-677",124") See http://www.SolarMonitor.org for images and http://solar.physics.montana.edu/max_millennium/ops/observing.shtml for a description of the current Max Millennium Observing Plan. Regards, De-Chao Song (Purple Mountain Observatory) |
