Dear Collaborators, Solar activity has slightly increased since the last message. The largest event in the period was a C5.2 flare at 04:31 UT today from NOAA 13538 (N21W19), but this region has been downgraded from a beta-gamma to a beta configuration. Two southeastern limb regions have been numbered as NOAA 13540 and 13541, which has remained active during the period, being the source of several low C-class flares. The target region NOAA 13536 retains its beta-gamma magnetic configuration and also produced a few low-to-mid C-class flares in the period. 13536 shall continue as the default target region due to its magnetic complexity and its past flaring history. Additional C-class flares are expected in the next 24 hours, with a slight chance for an isolated low M-class flare. The position of NOAA 13536 on 6-Jan-2024 at 08:30 UT is: N06E06, (-101",162") See http://www.SolarMonitor.org for images and http://solar.physics.montana.edu/max_millennium/ops/observing.shtml for a description of the current Max Millennium Observing Plan. Regards, De-Chao Song (Purple Mountain Observatory) |
