Dear Collaborators, Solar activity remains at intermediate levels since the last message. The largest event in the period was a C8.8 flare at 22:11 UT yesterday from a southwestern region, NOAA 13534 (S12W91). The majority of flare activity in the period was from NOAA 13538 (N25W47, beta/C-type), and yesterday's target, NOAA 13536 (N05W25, beta-gamma/E-type). NOAA 13539 retains its beta-gamma magnetic configuration and produced a C7.4 flare just now. This region is still emerging new magnetic fluxes and shall be the new target region. Further C-level activity likely with chance for an isolated low M-class flare in the next 24 hours. The position of NOAA 13539 on 8-Jan-2024 at 08:30 UT is: N11W06, (100",249") See http://www.SolarMonitor.org for images and http://solar.physics.montana.edu/max_millennium/ops/observing.shtml for a description of the current Max Millennium Observing Plan.
