Dear Collaborators, Solar activity continues at moderate levels. Yesterday's target region NOAA 13538 has produced an M1.2 and a few C-class flares since the last message, but this region was quiescent today. The largest event in the period was an M1.5 flare at 17:49 UT yesterday produced by NOAA 13539 (N10W63, beta/D-type), which was also the source of another six C-class flares. 13539 has remained active and shall be the new target region. Please note that NOAA 13547 (N19E12, beta/D-type) also produced an M1.1 flare in the period. Further C-class flares are expected, with a good chance of additional low M-class flares in the next 24 hours. The position of NOAA 13539 on 12-Jan-2024 at 12:30 UT is: N10W63, (857",201") See http://www.SolarMonitor.org for images and http://solar.physics.montana.edu/max_millennium/ops/observing.shtml for a description of the current Max Millennium Observing Plan. Regards, De-Chao Song (Purple Mountain Observatory) |
