Dear Collaborators,
Solar activity has increased slightly since the last message. The largest event in the period was a C5.4 flare at 03:59 UT today produced by NOAA 13553. 13553 also produced another three ~C2 flares and had a beta/C-type configuration. Today the target will switch to 13553 although it appears to decay. Yesterday's limb target produced three ~C2 flares yesterday and has been quiet today. There were also a few low C-class flares emerged from some other regions. Additional C-class activities are expected in the next 24 hours. The position of NOAA 13553 on January 18 at 08:30 UT is: N09E12 (-201", 231") See http://www.SolarMonitor.org for images and http://solar.physics.montana.edu/max_millennium/ops/observing.shtml for a description of the current Max Millennium Observing Plan.
