Dear Collaborators,
Solar activity has reached a moderate level due to an M1.5 flare at 03:59 UT today produced by the target region NOAA 13559. This region was also the source of multiple C-class flares. It has developed to a beta-gamma/F-type configuration and still experienced the emergence of new magnetic fluxes with mixed polarities. The target shall continue as NOAA 13559 because of its increased magnetic complexity and current level of flaring. Further C-class flares are expected with a chance of another M-class flare in the coming days. The position of NOAA 13559 on 22-Jan-2024 at 08:30 UT is: N27E17 (-254", 517") See http://www.SolarMonitor.org for images and http://solar.physics.montana.edu/max_millennium/ops/observing.shtml for a description of the current Max Millennium Observing Plan.
