Dear Collaborators,
Solar activity is at a low level. The unnumbered target region has now been designated as NOAA 13602 and was classified as a beta/D-type sunspot group, but has been flare-quiet since the last message. NOAA 13599 (a beta/C-type sunspot group) evolved somewhat in the period in terms of emerging some new flux and consolidating this into more mature trailing polarity spots. Despite being flare-quiet, NOAA 13599 becomes the new target region because it appears to still be emerging magnetic flux. Further C-class flares are expected in the next 24 hours. The position of NOAA 13599 on 5-Mar-2024 at 16:30 UT is: S14E29 , ( -455", -129" ) See http://www.SolarMonitor.org for images and http://solar.physics.montana.edu/max_millennium/ops/observing.shtml for a description of the current Max Millennium Observing Plan.
