Dear Collaborators, Solar activity has been at a high-to-moderate level. The largest event since the last message was an X1.0 flare at 16:11 UT on May 12 from the target region NOAA 13664. 13664 also produced more than ten M-class flares including an M6.7 flare at 09:36 UT on May 13. Today we will continue the Major Flare Watch campaign on this region when it is rotating over the west limb. Further M-class flares are expected with a chance of an occulted major (>M5) flare in the next 24 hours. The position of NOAA 13664 on May 13 at 23:30 UT is: S19W89 (897", -307") See http://www.SolarMonitor.org for images and http://solar.physics.montana.edu/max_millennium/ops/observing.shtml for a description of the current Max Millennium Observing Plan. Regards, Ying Li (Purple Mountain Observatory) |
