Dear Collaborators, Solar activity was at a moderate-to-low level. The largest event during the period was an M2.4 flare at 06:09 UT today produced by the target region NOAA 13697. This region also produced another M1.7 flare and a few C-class flares (including three C8 flares). NOAA 13697 retains a beta-gamma-delta configuration, with some new emerging sunspots in its trailing portion. Considering that its current helicity remains at a high level, we will continue the Major Flare Watch on this region for a further 24 hours. Further C- and M-class activity is expected, with a slight chance of an isolated >M5 flare. The position of NOAA 13697 on 4-Jun-2024 at 15:30 UT is: S18W16 (248",-290") See http://www.SolarMonitor.org for images and http://solar.physics.montana.edu/max_millennium/ops/observing.shtml for a description of the current Max Millennium Observing Plan. Regards, De-Chao Song (Purple Mountain Observatory) |
