Dear Collaborators,
Solar activity has decreased to a moderate level in the past 24 hours. There are two active regions (NOAA 13751, 13753) that produced four low-M flares. NOAA 13751 (beta-gamma/E-type, S08E20) was a source of two largest flares (including an M2.2 at 10:04 UT and an M2.0 at 10:20 UT today), with an emergence of new magnetic fluxes. NOAA 13753 (beta/C-type, N11W57) produced an M1.2 flare and an M2.0 flare yesterday but it shows magnetic signs of decay. Although the limb target NOAA 13738 was flare quiet in the period, its looptop shall remain the target with the Major Flare Watch before disappearing from Earth-view. More low-M activity is probable with a slight chance of a >M5 flare in the following 24-hour period. The approximate position of NOAA 13738 at 11:30 UT on 18-Jul-2024 is: N09W90 (932", 147") See http://www.SolarMonitor.org for images and http://solar.physics.montana.edu/max_millennium/ops/observing.shtml for a description of the current Max Millennium Observing Plan.
