Dear Collaborators,
Solar activity has returned to a high level since the last message. Yesterday's target region NOAA 13765 was flare-quiet but its nearby region NOAA 13766 (S07W90) was the source of three ~M1 flares and four mid-to-high C-class flares in the period. A northeastern limb region (N12E88) produced four M-class flares, including an M5.5 at 19:17 UT yesterday, and two mid-to-high C-class flares in the period. Today, the Major Flare Watch shall switch to this limb region, although NOAA 13775 (N17E11, beta-gamma/D-type) produced the largest event during the period - an M7.3 flare at 18:29 UT yesterday. Further M-class activity is expected, with a chance for >M5 flares from various regions in the next 24-48 hours. The approximate position of the target on 4-Aug-2024 at 11:30 UT is: N12E88 (-924",192") See http://www.SolarMonitor.org for images and http://solar.physics.montana.edu/max_millennium/ops/observing.shtml for a description of the current Max Millennium Observing Plan.
