Dear RHESSI Collaborators,
Solar flare activity has increased significantly today. The largest event over the past 24 hours was an M1.5 at 07/03/12:47 UT produced by a newly designated region, NOAA 12378. 12378 was also the source of a few C-class events, including a C5.6 at 07/03/02:54 UT. Yesterday's target region NOAA 12376 has shown some signs of decay, and only produced a C1.2 since the last message. Today the target will switch to NOAA 12378. Although 12378 was classified as a beta/C-type sunspot group (maybe too close to the east limb to ascertain its exact configuration), it has the potential to produce further C-class activity as well as another low M-class event.
The position of NOAA 12378 on July 3 at 11:35 UT is:
S15E57 (Solar X = -765", Solar Y = -271")
