Dear Collaborators, Solar activity has reached a moderate level. The largest event since the last message was an M1.2 flare at 02:52 UT today from NOAA 13571. This region was also the source of a C5.7 flare plus several low-C flares. It has been classified as an alpha/H-type sunspot group, with the emergence of new magnetic fluxes. 13571 should become the new target due to its recent high frequency of flaring activity. Yesterday’s target NOAA 13567 only produced a C1 flare. Further C-class activities are expected, with a chance of another low-M flare in the following 24 hours. The position of NOAA 13571 on 2-Feb-2024 at 12:30 UT is: S16E54 (-758", -209") See http://www.SolarMonitor.org for images and http://solar.physics.montana.edu/max_millennium/ops/observing.shtml for a description of the current Max Millennium Observing Plan. Regards, Qiao Li (Purple Mountain Observatory) |
